20th April 2023

Our second foal of the year was born to Leonie (Locksley 11 x Davignon x Matcho AA) and is by the 2019 licensing winner Furst Zonic.

Our second filly of the year and in so many ways so similar to Poppy that from a distance it is difficult to tell them apart.

These photos were taken when she was just 9 days old and speak for themselves.

13th April 2023

Today we welcomed the first foal for 2023, a delightful filly by Bonjour out of Lottie (Le Vivaldii x De Niro x Florestan)

Poppy has the distinction of being the first foal ever to be born in the field at Glossoms, born at  9.30 in the morning which was most interesting.

After a short wheelbarrow ride to the stable she was up and about and no worse for her unconventional ride to the stable!

Lottie was the last foal of Rosie (see below) and we are so pleased that we decided to retain her as a broodmare as she has produced an absolute cracker in Poppy.

Photos taken when she was 16 days old

9th December 2021

Sadly we had to say goodbye to Rosie today (De Niro x Florestan).  My sweet baby who we bought in Germany in 2004 and who has been an absolute star as a broodmare and retired broodie with whom we weaned our babies.

She was bought as a 3 year old eventually to be a broodmare but initially for me to ride and she was dearly loved.  There comes a time when you have done as much as you can and you know that the best thing is for her not to be in pain anymore.

We have retained her last foal by Le Vivaldi to carry on her bloodline.

September 2021

GF Sezuki and Tig have come 4th in the National Championships in the Novice, also winning the highest placed amateur award.  Massive congratulations!  She also came 8th in the Elementary, such an achievement, they just seem to be getting better and better.

This follows her brilliant qualification for the Nationals where she won her Elementary regional and came 2nd in her Novice regional.

Fingers crossed for a successful Embryo transfer from her in 2022.  Just have to choose the right stallion!

01 June 2021

Delighted with the safe arrival of Dandy!  GF De Klerk, by our own GF DeVille out of Leonie, our Locksley 11 x Davignon x Matcho mare.

When we bought Leonie at the Hanoverian foal auction in 2007 a cross with Bertie was always our intention at some point and we are very pleased with the result.  He is scopey with gorgeous long legs and will hopefully have an exciting future ahead of him.

Photos here taken when he was 2 days old and 2 weeks old

26th April 2021

We welcome the first of our foals for 2021, a delightful colt by the 2019 Oldenburg Champion stallion Bellany, a son of Bon Coeur.

Mum is our wonderful Dea - the 2018 BHHS Youngstock Champion who is full sister to licenced Hanoverian stallion GF DeVille

Bury Farm October 2020

Tig took Suki out at both Elementary and Medium and she won both. Well done the pair.

Winter Nationals

British Dressage magazine arrived with full details of all those that were successful at the Winter Nationals. Nice to see Darren Hicks with Vanessa Chinn's Hemisphere with their  8th in the Intermediate 1 Gold class finishing on a score of 68.03% and  6th in the PSG on 68.29%

Clare & GF Sezuki came 5th in the Novice Gold on 70.43% and Laura Robinson finished in 9th in the Silver Prelim final on her own GF Dupuis with a score of 69.31%

Hemi & GF Dupuis (Herbie) are both out of Rosie (De Niro x Florestan) who is now a retired broodmare.  Hemi is by Hofrat and Herbs is by our own GF DeVille.  He is pictured here with Mum when he was 2 days old

Congratulations to all connections

15th  September 2020

An even happier  Tig took Suki to the Nexgen final at Hickstead where super Suki finished overall 4th with a great score of 8.02%

Delighted for Tig and looking forward to seeing what Suki's daughter by Bon Coeur born this year can do when she is older.

3rd September 2020

A very happy Tig took Suki for the last Nexgen Young Horse Qualifier at Fieldhouse and walked away with a win with 81.6%

Good luck to them both in the final at Hickstead.

174th & 18th August 2020

At the postponed Winter Nationals GF Sezuki competed in the Novice final with Tig and finished a very creditable 5th winning the best amateur award in the process!  Huge congratulations to Tig and Suki.

The following day Hemi competed with Darren Hicks in the PSG final and he too finished a very creditable 6th overall on a score of 68.289% in a good class. He also finished 8th in the Inter 1 final the next day so a good outcome for  Vanessa Chinn's Hemi.

Finally GF Dupuis (Herbie) was in the ribbons with Laura Robinson in the Prelim Silver final, so GF horses finished in the top 10 of every class that they entered.

2nd June 2020

We welcome the last foal of the year - a black filly by the Negro son Navarro out of Leonie, our wonderful Locksley 11 x Davignon x Matcho AA mare born at 1.30 this morning

Say hello to GF Navarreuse, stable name Nesta

Leonie has been scanned back in foal to our own GF DeVille for 2021

17th  May 2020

This is Tia (GF Sonata) born 2 months ago and decidedly uncooperative as she's 'a big girl' now and full of herself.

So Unique x Dimaggio x Weltruhm x Fidermark

17th  May 2020

Photo shoot today of the three foals. Here is Essie aged 18 days

Bonne Esprit GF (Bon Coeur x Sezuan x Sherlock Holmes)

17th  May 2020

Photo shoot today of the three foals.  Here's Danny's portfolio - aged 16 days.

1st May 2020

Danny says "I'm here!!"  GF Devoto born Friday evening by D'Egalite out of our St Pr St mare Schneeflocke (Saffy), (Soliman De Hus x Likoto xx) pictured here at 4 days old.

This could be interesting!

29th April 2020

It was not the best of foalings but she is here finally.  Our Bon Coeur filly out of G F Sezuki (Sezuan x Sherlock Holmes x Consul) by ET, shown here with her loving reciepient Mum Whitney.

She decided to try and come out through the uterine wall rather than the cervix and had it not been for Tom at Chine House Vets she would not be here today.

We were really hoping for a filly but hadn't banked on her being a chestnut!

Hello Bonne Esprit GF (Essie)

15th March 2020

Glossoms Farm Stud would like to introduce the latest arrival to the farm - a super filly by the 4 year old World Champion So Unique!

GF Sonata (stable name Tia) is out of our homebred DiMaggio x Weltruhm x Fidermark mare Dolly who decided that she needed to  'cook' her a bit longer than anticipated.

Tia is the first of 4 foals that we are expecting this year.

Winter Nationals

Glossoms Farm Stud will be well represented at the Winter Nationals assuming that it goes ahead in these days of uncertainty.

Laura Robinson has qualified Herbie (GF Dupuis) in the Prelim, Mark has qualified Millie in the Novice and Tig has qualified Suki, also in the Novice.

Darren Hicks will be competing Hemi in both the PSG and the Inter 1

Good luck to all.  It is a shame that I will not be able to attend  but we are expecting a rather important delivery or 2  over this period.

3rd February 2

Nice to see GF Sezuki continuing her winning ways with owner Tig Abel.  Out today for the first time and she won both of her classes on plus 70%  scores.  Congratulations Tig!

23rd to 26th January 2020

Addington Regionals

Huge congratulations to Mark & Millie for their well deserved 2nd place and automatic qualification to the Winter Nationals.

Huge congratulations also must go to Darren Hicks riding Vanessa Chinn's Hemishpere 11 who has qualified for the PSG Winter Nationals and may also get a wild card for the Inter 1 narrowly beaten  into 3rd place but on a score in excess of 73% .  Fingers crossed!

10th & 11th January 2020

Lovely to see Millie & Dusty at Addington High Profile Show.

This was Mille's first really big show and in both tests she showed her inexperience at both this level and this size of competition.  She also showed some of her natural ability and the good bits were really good so Mark, Darren & owner Pauline were thrilled with her.  It was great for me to see her in competition for the first time where I could clearly see both her sire (GF DeVille) and her dam (Donna Diana) in her.  Sadly both parents are no longer with us.

Dusty did brilliantly indoor on Friday in both the Advanced Medium & the PSG, finishing 2nd in the big Advanced Medium class on 69.74% and 4th overall in thehuge PSG class on 68.99%.

Sadly on Saturday the weather turned and became very windy.  After a super warm up the wind got to Dusty in the arena and so he was retired but he has made and is continuing to make wonderful progress
28th December 2019

How delightful to see our homebred Hemi strutting his stuff with Darren Hicks at the Liverpool International Horseshow this evening.  In front of about 20000 people Hemi went in as one of only 10 horses invited to compete in the freestyle. Congratulations to Darren and owner Vanessa Chinn who completed a fault free test to score in excess of 72%.

This was the first time that he had ever competed in that sort of atmosphere and never an Inter 1 Freestyle before having only been out a handful of times at Inter1.  Well done!
27th December 2019

Recognised this bundle of fun when I opened Horse and Hound today. This is Fabio Lo Coco bred by Bella Bruce by Franklin out of our homebred mare Jeanie (GF Dancette).  Jeanie is one of only 2 babies by GF Dusautoir before we had to have him gelded.  Fabi spent his baby days with us here at the farm but is now home with Bella and is no doubt being pampered.  Sweet boy.
7th December 2019

What a day for our homebred horses!  Mark and Darren took Millie (GF DeMellia) and Dusty to Allens Hill, Millie to do her first Mediums and Dusty to do an Advanced Medium & a PSG.

Millie was superb, winning both tests on 73% and 71%.  This was the first time that she had been out at this level, and as Darren pointed out, she remains unbeaten at all levels to date.

Millie is by GF DeVille and is the last foal out of our Davignon x Duft 11 mare who we retired after Millies' birth and who we sadly lost last year.  Huge congratulations to owner Pauline Martin.

And then we have Dusty who has excelled today with amazing scores in both tests.  First a win in the Advance Medium on a score of 79.59% and then a win in the PSG on a fantastic 78.29%, only his second PSG to date.

Mark and Darren are doing a fantastic job of producing these horses.  Long may it continue.
6th December 2019

Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, and we have just had to do that.  Today we completed the sale of Suki to Claire Abel.  Claire fell in love with Suki pretty much from the start and we hope for great things from this new partnership.

We  look forward to following them both  in the future and are keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well with Suki's  foal due in April by Embryo Transfer.

We are delighted to say that we have recently bought Suki's yearling half sister by Da Costa (Dimaggio) out of St. Pr. St. Sprite (Suki's Mum).  We love this breeding and are determined to enhance our own breeding program with the blood of this wonderful dam.  Dalli is the last foal from Sprite who is now enjoying a well earned retirement in Germany.

28th November 2019

Today Mark & Darren took Dusty out to do his first PSG today with a warm up in the Advanced Medium.  Good boy Dusty winning both tests.  We were all delighted especially with the PSG.  Thank you Mark!

 9th November 2019

The boys have been putting the work in on Dusty and took him to Stourport for an Advanced 102 - as he is new to this level mark decided to go H/C.  His only previous outing at 102 saw Dusty score 69% but he missed several cruical elements of the test.

Today he was much better and finished on a score of 75.14%.

PSG here we come!

September 2019

How innocent things come back to haunt us!!

When Suki was an unbacked youngster here at Glossoms and her future was earmarked to be that of a broodmare, I missed a vaccination date by a couple of days and didn't do a full restart as she was clearly still protected. I had completely forgotten about this and it was subsequently not picked up when she had her next vaccination, nor when her passport has been checked at previous competitions.  It was however picked up at the Nationals and despite veterinary confirmation that she had always been fully covered throughout, she had to be withdrawn from both of her finals.

Disappointing but not the end of the world.

We have decided to finish her winter qualification instead and she was taken to Kings Equestrian on Saturday 21st September to do 2 tests indoors.  She won both.  The first on over 74% and the qualifier on 78.5%.

Two tests, two different venues, two different judges, one outdoors, one indoors, and two tests scoring over 78%. That'll do for now.

5th September 2019

Final outing for Suki before the Nationals next week.  Mark & Darren took her to Solihull to do a couple of Novice tests.  What a girl!  Two wins on 78.33% and 74.03% in the harder, more tricky Novice 39 test.  So pleased.

August 2019 & 3rd September 2019

In August Mark took Dusty out to Advanced Medium Competitions at Kings Equestrian, Mount Ballan and Solihull.  Dusty is coming on strong with wins at all 3 venues on scores in excess of 70+% in every test.

He then took him again to Kings on 3rd September and again notched up a win on over 73%.  Go Dusty!

11th  August 2019

Our congratulations go to Laura Robinson who was crowned Northern Petplan Novice Bronze Area Festival Champion on GF Dupuis (Herbie).  He is by GF DeVille out of our De Niro x Florestan mare Rosie and is described by Laura as her horse of a lifetime.

Well done Laura and Herbie

3rd August 2019

After a 2 day break following on from Hickstead, Suki was out again this time at Mount Ballan Regionals for the Novice Gold.  Once again she and Mark rose to the occasion and finished 2nd on a score of 72.84%, the winner scoring  73.04%, so very close.

This means that Suki has now qualified for the National Finals at Stoneleigh in 2 separate classes in September.  Happy days.

31st  July 2019

Mark took our homebred Millie out for the first time today. GF DeMellia (GF DeVille x Davignon) competed in  big Novice and Elementary classes winning both on 75.81% and 74.12%.  Congratulations to Mark and owner Pauline Martin.

27th & 28th  July 2019

Nice write up in Horse & Hound this week

27th & 28th  July 2019

This weekend saw Suki and Mark compete in the 5 year old British National & International Finals at Hickstead for which she had qualified at Bicton in Devon in July.

On the Saturday she put in a slightly below par performance in the National final and finished 7th.

On Sunday Suki came out a different girl and brought her A game to the ring. Delighted to say that in the harder of the two tests, Suki scored 80.60% - and claimed the Championship!

Happy rider, happy team, Darren Mattia, Bret Wilson & Rosie Moreton-Deakin, and very happy owners!

19th - 21st  July 2019

Delighted to hear of the continued success of Fleetwood Mac, bred here at Glossoms jointly with Lynne Crowden, who jumped double clear at Aston Le Walls Under 25 Advanced Section to finish 3rd on her dressage score of 34.6

Good picture in Horse & Hound.

18th July 2019

Last year Suki entered the 4 year old Semi Final at Hartpury and came 8th with very close scores to those that were in the top 5, who automatically qualified for the final.  Those that missed out took their horses to Port Royal, the second Semi Final, with the consequence that the entire top 10 at Hartpury qualified for the final except Suki who we didn't take.

Although being aware that it would not  change things, I wrote to BD pointing out that by right she too should be there on her scores gained at Hartpury.

Shortly after that email BD changed the rules about Young Horse Qualification.  No idea whether it was as a result of that email or not but now the top 3 at each Semi Final venue go through by right and the remaining 4 places are the highest scores from both venues.

Delighted to say that this year Suki gained automatic qualification by coming  3rd  on tight scoring at Port Royal with none of her scores being below 8.

Nationals here we come.

14th July 2019

Delighted to hear that GF Savea (who we called Corky but who is now known as Cadiz) had his first outing today with owner Hermione Reid - and came away with a score on excess of 69%.  Looking so good. Well done Hermione!

14th July 2019

Super news from Hickstead.  Darren Hicks & Hemi have won the Regional PSG to qualify for the Nationals on a score of 68.64%

Our congratulations go to Darren and Hemi''s owner Vanessa Chinn.  See you at Stoneleigh!

STOP PRESS!

Darren &Hemi have been given a Wild Card to the Nationals at Inter 1 level.  Fantastic news.

23rd June 2019

Round up time.  Totally thrilled that Hemi (Hofrat x De Niro x Florestan), Rosie's first foal, who is out winning at PSG & Inter 1.  Owned by Vanessa Chinn, he's picking  up some super scores.  Well done Darren & Vanessa.

GF Dupuis (Herbie), by DeVille out of Rosie has qualified for the Regionals. Well done owner Laura Robinson who has not long been back in the saddle having had time out to have her own baby.

Finally congratulations to Rhiannon Hinton with Quaikin Horatio (pictured by Hotline out of Dizzy Rascal - full sister to DeVille, Dusautoir and Dea Fortuna GF) who on the 19th June became the Pet Plan Area Festival Round One Elementary Silver Winner.

23rd June 2019

We had only 2 chances of qualifying Suki for the Shearwater 5 year old Semi Final mainly because of her being out of action whilst we took an embryo from her so it was off to Widmer Equestrian in Buckinghamshire to see if we could do the business.  Delighted to say that she qualified but the scoring was  very low. Whereas she did not qualify on a score of 8.62 at keysoe Premier League (came 3rd), she did qualify here on a score of 7.40.  The marks here were so low compared to all the other young horse classes that she has entered and really not in keeping with what we would expect. It was however the same for every competitor. Well done Mark.

6th June 2019

We were finally able to get Suki back out in competition after her successful Embryo Transfer (in foal to Bon Coeur) and so she went to Bicton to compete for the first time in the Hickstead British Young Horse National and International classes.  We are delighted that she won both on impressive scores of 83.6% and 81%.  This means that she has now qualified for the main Hickstead show in July.  As always we are very grateful to our partners Mark and Darren at Court Farm Stud.

16 May 2019

Great news from Essex - our homebred Jeanie (GF Dancette) by GF Dusautoir out of Rosie our De Niro x Florestan mare, has given birth to a fantastic foal by Franklin.  They have given him the cool  name of Fabio Lo Coco - Fabi for short.

Our congratulations go to Bella and all the family and also to Jeanie - a super Mum.

28 April 2019

Suki's first outing at the Keysoe Premier League competing in the 5 year old Shearwater Class saw her score a very impressive 8.62 to finish 3rd in a very hot class.

She just missed out on qualification and there will be a delay before she goes out again as we are again going to try and take an embryo from her this year. Well done Mark & Suki.

11th April 2019

We welcome our only foal for 2019 with the birth of Esposito GF (Elmo)

Elmo is by Escolar, currently the highest ranking stallion in the German FN breeding values, out of our own superstar, Dea Fortuna GF.

Escolar was the clear winner of his Westphalian Stallion Licensing and went to be crowned Champion at the Bundeschampionat of 3 year old Stallions in 2012.

Since then he has been progressing very well through the ranks and has now made a winning debut at GP.

Dea Fortuna GF is the full sister to 2 licensed stallions and was herself crowned the Youngstock Champion at the BHHS show in 2018.

February  2019

Congratulations to Rhiannon Hinton qualifying for the Winter Regionals with Quaikin Horatio.  'Bob', by Hotline, was bought as a yearling from his breeder Victoria Moss of Quaikin Stud.  His dam is Dizzy Rascal bred here in 2009, BHHS Champion Mare in 2014 and full sister to Dusty, Bertie and Dea.

Good luck for the Championship!

5th March 2019

Dusty had a good day at Kings Equestrian where he completed a medium test to score 75+% and then completed his first Advanced Medium with a score of 72.5%. He is already qualified for the Summer Regionals at Medium and will be out again shortly at Advanced.

February 2019

Mark took Suki to her Novice regional where she made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes which dropped her down to 9th.  She was however the youngest horse in the class, rising 5.  All above her were 6 or older and so we were really pleased with how she coped with the additional razzmatazz of the occasion.

Suki has already got her Summer qualification although we will be concentrating on 5 year old classes for this year.

Dusty came 8th in his Medium regional showing a little tension but still scored 68% +.  He has already qualified for the Summer Medium regionals and will shortly be out at Advanced Medium.

Sadly the recipient mare Belle has lost her embryo transfer foal  by For Romance which is very disappointing as it would have been due in early April.

11th January 2019

Mark and Darren took Suki out for the first time since October in preparation for her regional semi final in February, the first of 2 or 3 planned outings.  She did 2 Novice tests, winning both, scoring 74.37% and 76.48%.  Assessed by 2 different judges on the day we were very happy with how she performed and behaved.  The second judge made a point of commenting upon her to the boys saying how impressed she was by the whole performance.  She is going from strength to strength. (photo taken in October)

November 2018

Extract from "The Hanoverian" magazine.

"A four-year old daughter of Sezuan/Sherlock Holmes (breeder: Christian Heinrich, Staffhorst; owner: Sandy Senior) impressed with a brilliant performance in the mare division. The athletic mare delivered a very good mare performance test obtaining top scores for her basic gaits and her exceptional rideability.

Dornroeschen by Dimaggio/Caprimond (breeder/owner: Lynne Crowden) showed off her potential in the division for older mares. This important mare, which has already obtained successes at the Grand Prix and produced the dual world champion Woodlanders Farouche, is truly exceptional. Sezuki by Sezuan and Dornroeschen stood across from each other in the final ring: two mares, which were incomparable because of their ages and their breeding successes. Sezuki stands for high hopes, while Dornroeschen distinguishes herself with her own above average competition and breeding successes.

The judging committee decided to bestow the title of “Mare Champion 2018” upon both mares.  Dr. Werner Schade

November 2018

Harley (GF Doussain) says 'Hello' to his Dad, Dusty for the first time.
15th October 2018

Suki needed to complete her Novice qualification for the winter regionals and so we took her to Solihull where she scored the highest mark of the day across all levels winning the tricky Novice 39 with 72.3%.  Once again the judge commented afterwards that she was surprised that she was only 4.  Suki takes most things in her stride and today the warm up was again inside but this time she was more settled from the start.
21st October2018

Time to start Suki's Novice qualification and so a trip to Hartpury was in order.  All her previous tests have been outside except for the Hanoverian Performance Test which was slightly different.  Today she had to warm up in an indoor school, trek down to the small indoor school next to the International Arena and then do the test in the Arena itself.  For the first time she showed that she was stressed but Mark was wonderful with her and nursed her around a very wobbly test which she completed with eyes on stalks.

40 minutes later she had her second test to do - and what a difference.  This girls' brain is extraordinary.  Without hesitation or nerve she did her second test winning the Novice 38 with over 75%.  Even the judge had to come and commend Mark on the difference and was surprised to hear that she was only 4.

27th & 28th September 2018

The end of September saw us take Suki and Dea to the British Hanoverian Show, the last 'showing' show of the year.  Here it had been intended that both Suki and Dea would be performance tested but Dea had previously had a virus and on veterinary advice we were told not to ride her until after the foal is born.

Suki did however complete her performance test and scored a whopping 8.54 as a dressage horse making her a State Premium (Elite) candidate.  With her rideability marks of 9 and 9.5 from the test rider, she is also an Elite candidate for her jumping ability.  These were top marks and we were so pleased to see  Chairman of the Hanoverian Verband in Germany recognise the quality of this stunning mare.

On Sunday both Suki and Dea were shown in hand in their respective classes.  Dea first was stud book inspected and went on to win her class gaining the necessary 1A standard which recognises her as a potential St Premium mare. We were then thrilled when she went on to be crowned 'Youngstock Champion' 2018.

Suki was entered in the 4/5 year old mare class which she won and also gained the critical 1A standard to confirm her St Premium Candidate qualification.  She then went on to be crowned joint mare Champion alongside the great Woodlander Dornroshen (dam of Woodlander Farouche, the 5 & 6 year old World Breeding Champion) which for us was thrilling.  Finally she was then crowned Supreme Champion of the whole show 2018..

Huge thanks to our partners Darren Mattia and Mark Forrest of Court Farm Stud and to Jon Revell for all the running that he did over the 2 days.

16th August 2018

An indulgence day.  Down to Court Farm Stud to look at all 3 horses that are with them at this time.  Firstly Suki continues to impress, she is even better and stronger since I last saw her and seems to be enjoying her work.

Dusty was up next.  Now working in a double bridle, he was more relaxed and powerful and is getting to grips with the Advanced Medium movements.  He has already qualified for the winter regionals at medium level and will hopefully qualify at Advanced Medium too.

Finally, Dea.  This was the first time that I have seen her under saddle in the school apart from video clips that have been sent so I was totally thrilled by her way of going and how she is behaving under saddle.  There is so much to this 3 year old, really looking forward to seeing how she does at her performance test and to her Escolar foal next year.

4th August 2018

Mark & Darren took Dusty to the regional at Mount Ballan where he finished a close 6th on a score of 68.74%. With only one score just into the 70s. the remaining 5 were very closely bunched & the boys were delighted by Dusty's performance.  A little tension but no errors and a powerful performance.  He missed qualification to the Nationals by just over 1/2 %.  Onwards & upwards.

26th July 2018

Dea's turn for her first outing.  We felt it would benefit her to attend a Futurity in advance of her Performance Test for the Hanoverians at the end of September so took her to Kings Equestrian.  She behaved beautifully, looked amazing and received a Higher First Premium of 8.7.  With all youngsters going to the Futurity we never take them to see what they will score but to give them an outing and experience.  She is the highest scoring dressage 3 year old of the first week where the vast majority of Elite premiums are given to foals (it's easier!) and with a change in how the youngsters are marked (linear scoring which is more in line with studbook inspection) this was a very good mark.  Totally irrelevant however but it was the perfect outing for her first time out - and she looked gorgeous.  So excited about her first foal by Escolar due at the end of March 2019

12th July 2018

Back out with Dusty for a pre regional outing at Solihull and he won both his medium tests on scores of 76.72% & 77.79% so we were all pleased.

Two more tests on 1st August also saw him win both again on very good scores of over 71%.

7th July 2018

The Semi Final of the 4 Year Old class held at Hartpury saw Suki give a polished performance.  She came in 8th on a score of 7.92 which surprised us all.  One of those occasions when we all felt the mark did not reflect the performance.

She was unable to attend the other Semi Final at Port Royal a little while later where those that finished 6th,7th,9th &10th at Hartpury all subsequently qualified for the final.  There is no doubt of the potential of this horse and we continue to be totally impressed with her performance and behaviour.  She had a couple of weeks off after Hartpury but is now back in full work being prepared for her Mare Performance Test at the end of September.

Meanwhile we have taken delivery of her recipient mare Belle, carrying a precious cargo in Suki's foal by For Romance.

4th July 2018

Hemi (Hofrat x De Niro x Florestan) continues his winning ways by coming first in his section of both Advanced Mediums at the Hartpury Festival of Dressage.  Many congratulations  to owner Vanessa Chinn & rider Darren Hicks

23rd June 2018

A little practice required before her 4 year old semi final and so Mark & Darren took Suki to do 2 prelims at Summerhouse today.  A busy venue, she looked like a real professional, not turning a hair at anything and walked away winning both classes just shy of 80%.  This mare continues to impress.

8th June 2018

Today Mark & Darren took Suki to do her first test ever.  After a long drive to Kings Sedgemoor in Somerset, Suki strutted her stuff in the 4 year old qualifier.  We were all absolutely thrilled with her, not only for winning by a wide margin (1st 8.4, 2nd 7.6) but by the way she behaved in all respects.  All in all so far she is proving to be the real deal!

May 2018

Our first venture into Embryo Transfer!  We bought GF Sezuki as a foal  sight unseen based only on her bloodlines and a video of her with her dam.  Bred in Germany by Christian Heinrich &  Nicky Barrett, we were all set to bring her into our breeding programme but have decided that she is too good to be just a broodmare.  We are delighted that she is now expecting a foal by For Romance 1 after a successful flush and insemination of the embryo into a recipient mare (due April 2019).

"For Romance is the epitome of a modern sire, and is from a Voltaire dam line that has been accorded great success. Blessed with three excellent gaits, his canter and trot can only be described with superlatives and his character is also noteworthy. He stood out brilliantly in the strong lot of stallions at the 2011 Oldenburg Verband licensing and the enthusiastic spectators in Vechta gave him standing ovations.

Having been pronounced Champion Stallion of his licensing in 2011, For Romance did not disappoint during his 30-day test in Schlieckau, passing with super scores. He received a 9.25 for his trot and rideability, a 9.0 for his canter and an 8.88 for character. He won his first advanced level dressage classes as a seven-year-old and competed in the final of the Nuerberger Burg Pokal. In 2012, For Romance's full sister Fasine took the Oldenburg Champion Mare title - a brother and sister winning both these titles is a feat that is so far unique in the history of the Oldenburg Verband.

For Romance's dam Gesina is in a league of her own. In addition to For Romance I and his full sister Fasine, she has also produced their full brother, premium stallion For Romance II, another premium stallion, Feinrich (by Fürst Heinrich), and the British national novice champion Best Of All (by Bordeaux). Few mares are so successful and For Romance represents one of the most proven families in modern sport horse breeding.

Progeny - More than ten of his sons from his first two years have been licensed; among them the second-reserve champion Federico Fellini, the premium stallions For Final, For Dance, Fortunatus, For Faible and Fine Romance, and the stallion performance test winner and Vice-State Champion Fidelio Royal. Among his premium mares are the Belgian Champion Mare Frey de Mars, and the Oldenburg brilliant ring mare Marutela. Florentina has achieved the top price of €200,000 at the Westphalian Riding Horse-Auction. In 2016 one of his colts’ placed sixth at the German Foal Championships. Funkenmarie won the Lodbergen Championship and was expensively auctioned off in Borculo/NED. Rosenstolz was the top-price foal at the foal auction in Münster-Handorf. In the UK, his son Force Majeure SFS was a BEF elite foal who was the reserve champion of the 2016 series" www.elitestallions.co.uk

April 2018

Delighted that our own Dea Fortuna GF has been scanned in foal at the first attempt to Escolar, due late March 2018.

"Escolar has been the talk of the breeding world in recent times, thanks to both his outstanding sport performances, and his up-and-coming offspring. He is a tall, large-framed, and powerful stallion, with expressive, ground-covering movement.

In 2012 Escolar made his debut at shows with results that would be hard to beat, winning one class after another, in Lingen, Cloppenburg and Münster-Handorf, where the judges didn't hesitate to give the highest possible score of 10.0. Just decorated with the Westphalian champion title, Escolar and his trainer, Hermann Burger, went to Warendorf where they took the Bundeschampionat title for three-year old stallions. "What you see here is the best possible development of impulsion, cadence and perfect rhythm", commented Dr. Dietrich Plewa in the name of the judges who pulled a 10.0 out of their hats for his trot and canter. They also gave him a very good 9.0 for his state of training and the harmony of his presentation, an 8.5 for conformation and an 8.0 for his walk. Even the guest riders, Kim Pfeiffer and Marcus Hermes, were impressed and gave him 19.5 of 20 possible points.

Escolar made his international debut at Aachen CDI4* in 2016, scoring over 73% in both the PSG and Inter I classes to finish fourth and second. In 2017, he returned and scored +70% again. In 2017 Escolar was second (and crowd favourite) of the finals of the Nurnberger Burgpokal trophy on over 77%.

Offspring - Escolar's oldest offspring are turning four in 2018, and he already has 12 licensed sons. Among them are Escalito, reserve champion of the 2017 Westphalian licensing, Erdinger, and premium stallions El Corazon, Emilio and Escamillo. His offspring are tall, powerful models with fantastic gaits and temperaments. "  www.elitestallions.co.uk

So pleased to see that Hemi (Hemisphere by Hofrat out of our De Niro x Florestan mare) has been in the ribbons at Myerscough Premier League.  Hemi has been having some success at Advanced Medium under his rider Darren Hicks but this was his first outing at a Premier League where he finished 5th and 3rd in his 2 classes.  Owner Vanessa Chinn is delighted with him and we send her and Darren our warmest congratulations.
24th April 2018

Delighted with Mark & Dusty.  Two mediums in advance of the Winter Nationals (qualified elementary), two wins, one on 77.41% a clear 8% above the second placed horse and the other on 74.39%.

Congratulations to Katie James and GF Devannah winning the Bicton Area Festival Prelim Final with 72.36% coping very well with storm Brian! Excellent result.
22nd October 2017

Congratulations to Hermione Reid with GF DeLorean who competed in the Bicton Area Festival Novice Final finishing 5th whilst coping with Storm Brian and its mighty winds at the time.  Well done Hermione!
15th September 2017

Thrilled that Dusty came 9th in the Novice at the Nationals.  After suffering a few moments of 'stage fright' he settled down and Mark produced an excellent test to end his Novice career on 70.78%.  Interestingly the second placed horse got exactly 1% more than Dusty and so the whole top 10 were very close.  As Dusty's confidence grows we will hopefully see what he is really capable of.
8th September 2017

We took Cracker to the second annual Great British Mare & Foal Show held at Moreton Morrell and entered him into the morning qualifier where he won his class with high praise from the esteemed German judge Katrine Burger.  Although he should have gone through to the main event later that day we felt that he had done enough and did not enter him.  We were delighted with how he behaved and moved.
28th August 2017

Congratulations go to Katherine James with Kate Allen's GF DeVannah (GF DeVille x De Niro x Florestan who won her prelim class at Hartpury Area Festival scoring 75.90%.  So pleasing to see the DeVille babies doing so well.
28th August 2017

Delighted to hear that GF Delorean (GF Deville x Davignon x Duft II) came 3rd today in the Area Festival at Hartpury with her owner & rider Hermione Reid. Our congratulations to Hermione, Dory looks superb.
23rd August 2017

No chance to take all foals to the Futurity this year but we were able to take Bonnie to Solihull where she scored a High First Premium.  Bonnie will be a big girl and was very croup high so we were really pleased with this result however we only ever take the babies out for the experience.  Foals change from day to day and any mark or comment could be completely different the following week.
14th August  2017

Dusty Qualifies for the Nationals!!  Delighted that Dusty booked his ticket to the Novice Nationals in September with a 3rd place on a score of 71.45% in a class of nearly 40 entrants. His rider Mark Forrest guided him to a solid, competent performance in a very strong class.
10th August  2017

A visit from the British Hanoverians saw all 4 of our foals qualify for the main show at Hartpury in September despite a surface which had 36 hours of rain on it just before they arrived followed by a really gusty wind.  Very pleased with all of them.
14th June 2017

The final foal of the year has arrived. A stunning black filly by Le Vivaldi out of our De Niro x Florestan mare. So pleased with all of this years' foals.
3rd June 2017

Dolly, our homebred DiMaggio x Weltrhum x Fidermark mare has delivered a cracking chestnut colt by Follow Me. So cracking we have given him a stable name of Cracker. As usual his proper name is that of a rugby player, in this instance Fortuali GF
14th May 2017

Delighted with the arrival of Diarra GF (Mickey) by our own GF DeVille out of our St Pr St Mare Schneeflocke. This colt has got to be one of the most handsome that we have bred and is already showing his potential as a top dressage prospect.
8th May 2017

Super pleased with the arrival of a big black filly by Le Vivaldi out of Biz, our Biotop x Cocktail foundation mare. Bonnie will be the last foal that Biz has herself although we will probably do Embryo Transfer next year with her and let her have hopefully a long and healthy 'retirement' at grass.

We owe our thanks to Chine House Veterinary Hospital, and in particular Olivia Brunt who quickly diagnosed a problem that Bonnie had with swallowing and subsequently saved her life.
13th April 2017

Delighted with the first Glossoms foal to be born this year, having safely delivered a super colt for a client in March. By Don Deluxe out of our Glucksfall x Cambridge Cole mare, we have a long legged chestnut filly named Donna Delia.

4th April 2017

Mark took Dusty out to do his first ever Elementary tests at Kings Equestrian.  He did two tests winning the first on a score of plus 69%  and winning the second test on over 73%, some 3% clear of anyone else.  Particularly pleasing as, with Charlotte Dujardin competing in both tests, winning was not expected but Dusty and Mark excelled themselves.  Excellent result.

 21st January 2017

Dusty and Mark have completed their regional Novice qualification today winning with a score in excess of 77%

15th January 2017

Dusty had his first outing in a while after a few niggles, so it was good to see him back with a vengeance winning both his Novice tests at Hartpury, the last test scoring just shy of 80%.

7th January 2017

Bertie makes a great impression at the Stallion Show at Bury Farm...

24th September 2016

Bertie grades with Hanover!

Bertie was presented for licensing with the Hanoverian Society based on his performance record at PSG and above and we are delighted to announce that he has now been approved with the Society. Some very good marks in particular he was awarded 9 for the correctness of his gaits. Frozen semen (with very high motility rates) will be available from 2017 onwards.

2nd September 2016

Fabulous news! Our homebred Fleetwood Mac and his owner Chelsea have just been selected to represent Team GBR at the Junior Eventing Championships in Italy in a couple of weeks. This follows a series of wins including being crowned Junior Champion earlier this year. Fleetwood Mac was jointly bred by ourselves and Lynne Crowden in 2007 and as a foal was crowned BWBS Supreme and Foal Champion as well as the BHHS Colt foal Champion in the same year. His dam, Woodlander Wicked Lady is also the mother of Dollita, born 2009 by DiMaggio, who is now in foal to Follow Me, due June 2017.

Huge congratulations to Chelsea , Mac and all their connections.

2nd September 2016

Took Jet (Daylight's Dream) to the first Great British Mare & Foal Show having entered her in the Futurity class, open to all foals with a Higher First or Elite Premium. It is a great opportunity to see all foals in the same class as the Futurity itself is inconsistent in that different judges throughout the country have different opinions thus it is not right to say that one foal is better than another when they have been judged by different people. In addition foals change so much that they are as they are on the day, that is all. Today we were against the highest scoring foal from the 2016 Futurity and others. The overall Champion was a colt foal that only gained a Higher First at the Futurity with Jet coming in 3rd in a very close call with the 2016 Futurity Champion. Very pleased with her. Our future broodmare who will replace her Mum when we retire Rosie in a couple of years. https://youtu.be/X-vqgMKGGVk

15th August 2016

Better news for Glossoms with Daylight's Dream GF (Jet) gaining the only Elite premium at the first Futurity of the season at Vale View. Whilst it is gratifying to receive an Elite Premium it is not the reason that we take our foals to the Futurity. Our purpose is to educate them, go through the process of bathing, plaiting and importantly travelling on a lorry with Mum. Each year our babies learn so much and are much better for having had the opportunity to go out.

10th August 2016

A bad day here at the farm with the loss of our second foal this year. Felix had to be put down with a tendon sheath infection that came out of nowhere and for which we have no definitive answer as to why. Heartbroken.

4th May 2016

Our last foal, a beautiful black filly by DiMaggio out of our De Niro x Florestan mare Rosie. This one we intend to keep. Rosie is getting older and we want to preserve her blood lines and this is the perfect filly to do that. Super pleased with her.

30th April 2016

Our second foal of the year was born, a very handsome colt by Furst Romancier out of our St. Pr. Soliman de Hus x Likoto xx mare. Saffy really throws her looks on her offspring. Very pleased with Felatau GF (named after the British Lions rugby player) known as Felix around the farm.

25th April 2016

Our first foal of the year was born - a gorgeous colt by DiMaggio out of our Biotop x Cocktail mare. Unfortunately he picked up a lung infection when he was only 2 days old and despite all our best attempts he couldn't be saved and died on the 28th April. Such a short life, so sadly missed.

15th January 2016

GF Dusautoir and Mark complete their qualification for the Summer Regionals at Novice level. In just 2 outings and 4 tests, all of which they won, Dusty is starting to show what he can achieve - a score of 79.58% in only his second Novice test has helped.
